Our slogan “Green innovations to market” reflects the essence of our business. The team members have extensive industrial, financial and legal experiences to bring our ventures to market.
ESG is an abbreviation for «Environmental, Social and Governance», and indicates a set of standards for a company’s operations relating to the environment, social interaction and corporate governance.
Environmental standards could relate to a company’s impact on climate change or carbon emissions, energy use, waste, pollution, natural resource conservation and animal treatment. They could also incorporate an evaluation on which environmental risks might affect a company’s income and how the company is managing those risks.
Social interaction standards could relate to the company’s business relationships, hereunder how a company manages relationships with its employees, suppliers, customers and the communities where it operates.
Governance standards could relate to a company use of accounting methods, accounting information policies and use of auditors, equal treatment of shareholders, structure of governing bodies, conflict of interest policies, remuneration policies and incentive structures, voting and influence structures and capital distribution strategies.
There are no universally accepted criteria or standards for the evaluation of ESG, but investors and other key stakeholders are increasingly focusing on these elements, through various metrics, ratings or tools, when evaluating and interacting with companies, in particular publicly listed companies. Investors which put a main emphasis on these matters could be labeled as conducting sustainable, responsible and impact investing or socially responsible investing.
We strongly believe that our businesses can play an important role in making a positive societal impact, be it through their technologies/products, services or mode of operations.
Our mission is to contribute to the creation of such businesses in the ventures we engage in.
We focus on technologies that can help solve the climate change challenge and contribute to reaching the 2°Celcius target set by the Paris Agreement under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.
Based on this, our vision is to create global game changers contributing to solving our climate challenge with a lasting positive societal impact.
In Eion Ventures, the ESG perspective is at the heart of what we do.
The «E» is basically the foundation of our business concept. Our slogan is «Green innovation to market», and we focus on technologies that can help solve the climate change challenge and as such our core is to contribute to saving the environment.
The «S» has been incorporated in our mission. We strongly believe that businesses can play an important role in making a positive societal impact, and it is our mission to contribute to the creation of such businesses in the ventures we engage in.
The «G» fundamentally guides the way we interact with out portfolio companies. We believe that a broad stakeholder perspective is important to create sustainable businesses. Clearly our co-investors are one of our most important stakeholders. Best practices corporate governance is important to create trustful and long lasting relationships with our investors i our portfolio companies.
Each of our portfolio companies must develop their own best practices ESG strategy, with an emphasis on the E and S, as the G will be addressed through the way Eion Ventures interact with those companies as the main shareholder. We will actively be contributing to the formation of this strategy.
Eion Ventures supports the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
On 1 January 2016, the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development officially came into force.
In the time frame up to 2030, the Sustainable Development Goals are a call for action by all countries – poor, rich and middle-income – to promote prosperity while protecting the planet. They recognize that ending poverty must go hand-in-hand with strategies that build economic growth and addresses a range of social needs including education, health, social protection, and job opportunities, while tackling climate change and environmental protection.
The goals are broad reaching, and some are more readily available to address than others.
In Eion Ventures annual reports on ESG, we outline how we direct our ventures in order to contribute to the achievement of these goals.
It consists of two rounded arrows, one larger than the other. The arrrows clearly point forward to the future, signifying our desire to help shape and impact it, and to be able to bring tangible results in our collective way towards a greener future. In some instances you will see the tip of the arrow transgressing the borders of the frame where it is used, indicating that we want to be ahead of the curve. We want to lead, rather than follow.
The small arrow leads to the big arrow symbolizing that we make something small into something big. We take a technology or an idea and make it into a company. Further, the small gains momentum into the big, and our aim is that the collective effects of our projects and portfolio companies can actaully make a large impact.
For our projects and portfolio companies the small to big relationship also signify that we take one element and change it into something else. For Nordic White Diesel we take a fossil fuel and make it into a more environmentally friendly alternative. For Green Energy Extraction and Wood Energy Extraction we take tyres and wood respectively and material recycle it into a renewable fuel. The big arrow then also symbolizes the better version.
The colours of Eion Ventures have greenish and blueish hues. When you see the Earth from space you get the picture. Would you rather live in a monotone rocky and dusty place like Mars or our beautiful blue and green planet? Let`s accomplish that 2°C target!
The colours of our projects and portfolio companies have a colour scheme of their own which have connotations to their businesses.
The colours of Nordic White Diesel have blue to light blue hues and they simply indicate that the use of the environmentally friendly fuels of the company will bring cleaner skies and waters.
The colours of Green Energy Extraction have dark red to orange hues. Tyres represent a large environmental problem, but we will still be needing them in large quantities. We help mitigate this problem, by taking that waste stream and transforming it into a renewable and more environmentally friendly fuel.
The colour of red symbolizes the energy extracted. Almost like a kinder egg solution we can take tyres out of circulation, help reduce landfills and bring the tyres into better use. A problem solved. Orange is the colour of hope and optimism.
The colours of Wood Energy Extraction have brownish to yellowish hues. Recycling waste wood and forest residue (the brown) into renewable fuels will hopefully help bring a brighter future.
